Chichester Canal Lunch Cruise

A mixture of Oddfellows and U3A people spent a sunny day out on Saturday 10th May 2008. Seven went by car, twent-eight by Southern's splendid trains and ate an excellent buffet on board.
The big canal cruiser "Richmond" (pictured above) had staff that were extremely helpful, ensuring a 90 year old mum in a wheelchair, moved effortlessly on and off the boat. While two late comers were driven, by another volunteer to the halfway point so they didn't miss the meal or the walk in the lush meadow.
Up on deck we observed cygnets and coot chicks with May's flowery profusion along the banks.
Sightseeing in Chichester included a free guided tour of one cathedral, a free art gallery and museum, with shopping of course. Everyone seems to have enjoyed their excursion

ARUNDEL WETLANDS

Tuesday September 16th

Arundel Wetland Centre has 16 hectares of naturalised landscapes and wetland
habitats holding many hundreds of exotic wildfowl from around the world.

Free Safaris on quiet, electric boats are offered everyday weather permitting. Limited passenger numbers on a boat safari means you can have the uniterrupted attention of an experienced & knowledgeable guide throughout your trip. Boats can get fantastically close to rare creatures that would not be possible if walking and our safari guides can expertly manoeuvre the boats to get the best possible sighting. No need for telescopes or binoculars. The sights and sounds of the wetlands are all around as you travel deep into the reed beds. Look out for Water Voles, migrant birds, dragonflies, snakes and more... and each season brings exciting and colourful changes in both flora and fauna
